VITA - EITC

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program assists low-income wage earners with their tax return preparation.  At The Roanoke Center, local IRS trained volunteers offer free basic income tax preparation services to qualified low-income working families. 

EITC is a government program designed to help elevate income-eligible and working households from poverty. 

The 2005 VITA-EITC sites saw taxpayers receive $88,238 in federal refunds, $17,938 in state refunds, $34,323 in earned income credit and $15,737 in child tax credits.
