Financial Literacy

The Roanoke Center has made financial literacy a top priority. Making effective financial decisions and knowing how to manage money are critical skills to enjoying a secure financial future. The Roanoke Center brings together local and regional organizations and governments to promote financial education within the region. By working collaboratively, we increase awareness about the need for financial education through outreach, policy, and research.

The Roanoke Center's financial literacy program is geared toward helping adults and youth acquire the knowledge and skills to manage and communicate about decisions that affect their well-being and financial security. We build the financial education capacity of our citizens and organizations by sharing information and resources through instructor training, workshops, and seminars.

The Roanoke Center serves as a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance/Earned Income Tax Credit (VITA/EITC) site where taxpayers receive free financial literacy training and tax returns filed electronically each year during tax season.
